Dr Stephen Hicks
Director
Stephen Hicks is a Medical Doctor with a background in electronics and manual labour. He holds an adjunct appointment as a Clinical Senior Lecturer, teaching the fundamental skills of surgery. He is qualified in Aviation and Underwater medicine. He has completed training in Space Medicine. Stephen completed International Space University – Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program 2018 and has participated in the College of Extraordinary Experiences (2019). He has worked on R&D engineering projects including Agricultural and Satellite communication. He is part of a multinational Machine Learning group working on Mental Health applications and using satellite technology to improve agriculture in developing nations. He is a director of a company developing Spin Gravity and Space Debris solutions for Low Earth Orbit application. Stephen seeks out challenging workplaces that succeed through robust teamwork.
Dr Cassandra Sturm
Operations manager
Cassandra has been part of the Field Surgical team since 2013. She has extensive experience in medical administration and specialises in billing systems, Medicare, and health funds interactions. With a PhD in Fine Art, she partners creativity and flexibility with attention to fine detail in the management of Field Surgical’s daily operations. Cassandra is passionate about the Australian landscape and is an avid bushwalker, amateur photographer, and professional artist.
Jaya Vijayan
Research assistant
Jaya joined the Field Surgical team in 2020 where she contributes to behind-the-scenes administration and the creation of research reports.
Being an MBA graduate from India with 5 years of experience in the research field, she is responsible for the systematic inquiry and collection of critical data and documentation. She is currently accountable for identifying potential and new customers and understanding existing customers. Apart from work, Jaya is an ardent classical dancer and enthusiastic traveler.
